Robert Regis Dvorak has been a practicing artist for 25 years. He presents
seminars in drawing, watercolor painting, creativity, and selling art for
the University of California, San Franicsco State University, community
college, and art galleries. He lives in Sacramento, California.
Robert Regis Dvorák, FAAR paints in watercolor, oil, and acrylic,
with a studio at the Sanchez Art Center in Pacifica, California. His inspirations
are the California coast, Hawaii, Yosemite National Park, Europe-particularly
Italy and Greece-and the human figure. His watercolors and oils are shown
at the Garden Gallery in Half Moon Bay, California, the 20th Street Gallery
in Sacramento, The Village Gallery in Maui, and the Nohea Galleries in
Honolulu, Hawaii.
Mr. Dvorák also teaches drawing and watercolor classes for University
of California Extensions, San Francisco State University's College of Extended
Learning, community colleges in California and Hawaii, and the University
of Hawaii. He taught architectural design and drawing and watercolor painting
at the University of Oregon for seven years and at the University of California
at Berkeley for two years.
Mr. Dvorák has written and illustrated the following books: Drawing
Without Fear, The Magic of Drawing, The Pocket Drawing Book, Experiential
Drawing, and Productivity at the Workstation. He has illustrated two guidebooks,
Half Moon Bay Exploring on the North Central California Coast and Monterey
Peninsula Exploring, by Nancy and Neil Evans. Robert and his work were
featured in two articles in American Artist Magazine: "Sketching While
Traveling in Greece" and "Twenty Minutes to a Beautiful Figure."
Mr. Dvorák received his Bachelor of Architecture degree from
the University of Illinois and his Master of Architecture Degree from the
University of California, Berkeley. He was a recipient of the American
Academy in Rome Fellowship (two years), two grants from the University
of Oregon, and a grant from the California Arts Council to promote art
in California schools. He has produced more than 20 short experimental
films; many have been featured in film festivals in the US, Europe, and
Australia.
Mr. Dvorák has had 22 one-man exhibitions of his work. He is
primarily a painter but also works with skill at life drawing and as a
printmaker (etchings and woodcuts). His paintings, films, and prints are
in many private and museum collections.
Mr. Dvorák has traveled in 54 countries. He has celebrated Carnival
in Trinidad; worked as a caricature artist in Japanese night clubs; explored
over 10,000 miles of India; bicycled around the Zuider Zee in the Netherlands;
investigated the ruins of Angkor Wat in Cambodia; traveled on the Transiberian
Railroad; hiked the Great Wall of China; climbed to the top of the Great
Pyramid in Egypt; and sailed the Greek Islands.
Mr. Dvorák is often invited to be a keynote speaker and sales
trainer, drawing on his many experiences to illustrate his message that
every person has the power to see and create his or her life.
