Jay Das has been painting for the last 40 years. He began with
watercolors and Indian techniques—painting in a wash style which he learned
directly from a recognized master in India. Laborious and exacting, it
lasted for a number of years. Now there are no specimens of watercolor included
for sale, as he will not part with them. The exacting demand of that style
led his interest to western art and oil painting. WIth some formal college
training, he was soon on his own feet. His current style reflects influence
of abstract expressionism and surrealism.
He is now a US citizen. He has exhibited in India and abroad.
An introvert and shy person, he has not gained much attention from the media.
He, however, believes that his work is a high caliber and artistic quality.
